Search and AI
Google and AI visibility
This page checks the public signals on this website: crawler rules, the sitemap, llms.txt and the homepage. It covers Google Search, Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grok.
Check this site
Reads the public files on this website. It does not query Google, Grok, Claude or any other assistant, and it does not estimate a ranking.
Reading robots.txt, the sitemap, llms.txt and the homepage.
What each assistant uses
Search answers and model training are different controls. A pass on this page means the relevant crawler is allowed to read the site.
Google Search
Google Search and AI Overviews use the pages Googlebot can index. Allowing Googlebot is the technical requirement. It does not guarantee a ranking.
Gemini
Google-Extended covers Gemini apps. Blocking it does not remove a page from Google Search.
Claude
Anthropic documents Claude-SearchBot for search and Claude-User for questions people ask. ClaudeBot is for model training.
ChatGPT
OpenAI documents OAI-SearchBot for search and ChatGPT-User for questions people ask. GPTBot is for model training.
Perplexity
PerplexityBot indexes pages. Perplexity-User fetches a page when someone asks a question.
Grok
xAI has not published a crawler name or said that Grok honours robots.txt. This site allows every crawler, including GrokBot and xAI-SearchBot, which are names from public logs. Grok also reads posts on X. This site does not list an X profile.
Questions about this check
Does this check ask Grok, Claude or Google a question?
No. It reads this website’s public files: robots.txt, the sitemap, llms.txt, llms-full.txt and the homepage. It does not call Grok, Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google, and it does not show a ranking or a share of answers.
Why can every check pass and the business still not appear?
A pass means those crawlers are allowed to read the site and the public files are in place. Google says meeting the technical requirements does not guarantee that a page will be crawled, indexed or shown. AI assistants choose which sources to cite.
What can this check say about Grok?
Only whether this site blocks the crawler names public logs report. xAI has not published an official crawler token, so a robots.txt rule for those names is a request, not a confirmed control. Grok also uses posts on X, and Barefoot Bytes does not publish an X profile on this site.
What is llms.txt?
A plain-text index of the site for assistants that look for one, at /llms.txt, with the longer version at /llms-full.txt. The normal HTML pages stay the source for Google.
